paypal
because i registered for paypal a long time ago and thought i had to use my legal name (i don't really know if you do or not), it's going to show my birth name on the receipt if you donate. this doesn't really make me happy, but since you know that i am doing this whole thing to change my name anyhow, i'm not too upset by it. just wanted to give you a heads up.

thanks for stopping by :)
i thought i'd take the time to explain this decision a little. it's taken me a long time to come to the place of deciding i want to pursue hormones and move forward with the medical and legal aspects of my transition.
admittedly, i can't guarantee every penny of this going to my medical transition. what i can guarantee is that every penny will go toward my name change. there is nothing that will make me want to keep the name i was assigned at birth, as beautiful or meaningful as it is. i haven't used it in three years, and i don't plan to ever use it again, and it is time that the state and federal governments and every other institution i interact with recognize that. the process of changing one's name varies by state and i don't exactly know what it will cost me here, but i am going to assume around $400 because of all the court fees, the cost of publishing the name change in the newspaper, and the cost to be issued all new IDs. if i can raise at least $400 with this account i will be really happy.
the remaining $500, if i raise that much, i would like to use to pursue testosterone. i would like to do an informed consent model, and all the practices i know of are located in nyc. i have to pay for the appointments themselves, the travel to and from each appointment, and any lab tests that are to be run. if i wind up taking testosterone (after being found physically and psychologically fit), there are expenses in starting that as well. both the hormone itself and the needles to inject with cost money.
when i see that i have $300 raised here on the name change i will call and schedule an appointment, hoping that between the $300 and the appointment, i make enough to cover it. (they tend to schedule pretty far in advance, so it's all good.)
i also intend to match every $20 here with $10 of my own, to keep myself honest in this and make sure i am putting forth as much effort as all you loved ones are. money for me is extremely tight, but this is something so meaningful to me that i think if i have to cut out coffee or something i am known to splurge on in order to match your money, it's worth doing so. :)

thanks to everyone. every dollar, no matter how big or how small really makes the world of a difference.
